Edrena Jennings Smith was welcomed into the kingdom of heaven on Thursday November 27, 2008. Known simply as "BeBaw" by all who loved her, she was preceded in death by two loving husbands, J.J. Jennings Jr. and H.E. Smith.
"BeBaw" never climbed the highest mountain, yet she attained heights only dreamed of by others. She held no degrees from major universities, yet she possessed wisdom and a deep understanding of those around her. No task was ever too difficult, no problem so terrible that it could not be solved simply by "telling my BeBaw".
Edrena was a devoted Christian mother who looked at her battle with cancer as an opportunity to witness to those around her. She did this safe in the knowledge of her salvation and never once asked God the question, "Why me"? In the final days before her passing more than one person commented how they had gone to visit, perhaps for the last time, and had come away feeling that they were the ones who had been given hope as a result of the visit.
She is survived by Phillip and Denise Jennings of Watauga, TX and Dr. Paul and Suzanne Jennings of Grapevine, TX; four grandchildren, Denisha and Andy Ivey, Tony and Jennifer Jennings, Carolyn and Kirk Brown, Jay Jennings; five great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday November 30, 2008 in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton. Pat Wallace will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Argyle. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Saturday November 29 at the funeral home.
The family have requested that memorial donations may be made to Universal Health Resources, P.O. Box 8795, Fort Worth, TX 76124 or the Lighthouse for the Blind of Fort Worth, 912 West Broadway, Fort Worth, Texas 76104.
