Edith was born in Bartonville, Texas on July 24, 1909. She was the first child of seven
children born to Neal and Tharia Wilkerson. Edith received the Lord as Lord and savior
when she was 8 years old and her life was a living memorial of Christian love and care
for her fellow man. Edith and Lonzo Medlin were married in 1932 and they enjoyed 63
years together before he passed in 1996. They lived in the Roanoke community and were
faithful members of Shiloh Church of Bartonville and the First Baptist Church of Roanoke.
Edith will be remembered as a matriarch of her family, a generous, thoughtful woman, a
good southern cook and the lady who made the best pies in the county. Edith was a mother
figure to many younger women. She had a mother's heart and gathered several girls under
her wing. The family thanks Stonegate Nursing Center and Hospice for their care and
compassion shown to Edith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonzo Medlin; her parents, Neal and Tharia
Wilkerson; in-laws, Jim and Fannie Medlin; sister, Agnes Shockey; four brothers, Alex
Wilkerson, Neal Wilkerson, Jr., Linden Wilkerson, and Marvin Wilkerson.
