Ed VanderMeulen

Patriarch and provider Ed VanderMeulen departed this world, Saturday, January 3, 2015 leaving behind a legacy of commitment, community service and contribution.
Born February 18, 1924 in Chicago, IL to Elenora and Peter VanderMeulen, he was their only son and older brother to Ruth Soukup. He was preceded in death by his wife Vivienne and his sister Ruth. Father of Nancysue (Taffy) and husband Tim Holland of Carrollton, TX, Danise and husband Bill Tomlin of Arcata, CA and Kurt and wife Elizabeth VanderMeulen of Austin, TX. He was known and loved as Bo and Opa by 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Ed retired after 35 years with IBM as a repeated member of the 100% Club, the Golden Circle and the Inner Circle. He was an avid golfer achieving a Hole in One on August 3, 1983 at the Denton Country Club. A member of the Lion's Club and American Legion, an Explorer leader, participant in community theatre, 1st grade reading volunteer at WS Ryan Elementary, ordained Deacon in the Presbyterian Church, traveler, gardener, and hunter. He never retired from life.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 10, 2:00 pm at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Oak Street, Denton, TX. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer's Association will be greatly appreciated. On line condolences may be left at www.mulkeymasondenton.com.
