Obituary

Earl Raymond Asher, 90, of Denton, died Wednesday January 6, 2010 at his home in Denton.
Mr. Asher was born on August 4, 1919 in Evanston, Illinois to Earl Samuel and Mary (Saretsky) Asher. He was married to Patricia McElroy on August 8, 1948 in Winnetka, IL; she preceded him in death on April 8, 1984. He enlisted in the United States Navy on December 13, 1941 and served in Naval Intelligence first and then went to sea in the South Pacific, near the Phillipines during WWII. He continued to serve in the Naval Intelligence and in the Naval Reserves until 1951. He graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1937, and graduated from NTSC in 1951, nowthe University of North Texas with honors with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
Mr. Asher owned and operated Asher Sales and T.V. Services in Denton from 1949 until his retirement in 1985. He attended Chinn Chapel United Methodist Church; was a lifetime member of VFW; lifetime member of the University of North Texas Alumni Association; member of the Texas Electronic Association. He was very active with the Denton Senior Center Choir and Bridge group until his illness.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM Saturday January 9, 2010 in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, TX. Rev. Paul McGarvey will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Keven Davis, Kerry Davis, Erik Davis, Kerry Bob Davis, Monty Goforth and Leo Perez. The family wishes to offer thanks to Bluebonnett Home health and Bluebonnet Hospice who were wonderful to Earl during his last years of his life.
Survivors include his daughters, Pam Asher of Denton, Mary Margaret Usher and her husband Jim; of Imperial, MO son, Jim Asher of Denton; sister, Dorothy Miller of Northbrook, IL; grandchildren, Sherri Marshall, Michael Usher, Lori Price; five great grandchildren.; several nieces and nephews.
