Dottie "Dot" Smith Thompson, 85, of Denton, died Saturday, January 23, 2021.

Mrs. Thompson was born on May 9, 1935, the youngest of four siblings, near Stony, TX to Fred O. and Sara (Rhine) Smith. She was married to Arthur "Art" Thompson on January 25, 1957 in Bryson, TX; he preceded her in death on April 29, 2010. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and worked for many years alongside Art at Mizell-Thompson Insurance.  Dot was also active in several service based organizations including 4-H, PTA, Opti-Mrs., Soroptimist, volunteering for Presbyterian hospital, grief-share, and Stepping Stones. Dot enjoyed a variety of activities including square dance, judging the Denton youth fair, and a domino game with family or friends.  Those who knew Dot quickly learned that she never met a stranger and had an amazing way of uplifting and bringing a smile everyone's face.

Dottie is survived by her son, Danny Thompson of Denton; granddaughter, Brandy Thompson of Denton. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Candy Fincher-Thompson, siblings Francis, Bootsie, and Fred Jr.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust St., Denton. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
