Dorothy Louise Crowder Hilliard of Denton, Texas passed from this earth into her Heavenly home on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at the age of 83.
Dorothy was born April 5, 1940 in Dallas and grew up on the north side of Fort Worth where she attended Diamond Hill Jarvis High School. She married Gale E. Moericke, Sr. in 1958 and had 5 children in 5 years. She spent most of her early adult life raising children and providing a wonderful home for her family. She later worked as a cafeteria school manager where she shared her amazing culinary gifts with lots of kids for 28 years until she retired in 2010 from the Lewisville ISD. The Lord brought Charles Hilliard into her life and they married in 2012.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack A. Crowder and Lola Crowder, a sister, Janie Kesler, brothers, Richard Crowder, Robert Crowder, Jerry Crowder, and twin infant granddaughters, Joanna and Meredith Bridges. She is survived by her husband, Charles R. Hilliard of Denton, sons, Gale E. Moericke, Jr. (Rene') of Gordon, and Nick Moericke (Jill) of Denton, daughters, Teresa Nicholson (Rick) of Maypearl, Jill Bridges (Barry) of Flower Mound, and Tina Rhodes (Mike) of Comanche, bonus children, Carol Christian Barthold (Rickey) of Valley View, Susan Wilhelm (Jay) of Corinth, and Jim Hilliard (Brenda) of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Zachary (Hanna), Alyssa (Matt), Nora, Reece (Jordan), Logan (Vanessa), Alex (Hannah), Stephanie, Mitch, Kendra, Joy (Matt), and Mark and 10 great-grandchildren plus bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her sister, Molly Roper of Perrysburg, OH, a brother, Jack Crowder (Margie) of Lott, TX and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of life for Dorothy will be on Friday, October 13, at 11:00 a.m. at Hickory Creek Baptist Church, 5724 Teasley Ln, Denton, TX 76210. Charles and our family would like to thank Carriage House Assisted Living and Three Oaks Hospice for the gracious and loving care they gave to our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend during her valiant battle with cancer. She was a joy and blessing to many and an incredible witness for her Lord and Savior.
