Obituary

Dorothy Irene Hardin Goff, age 92, a former longtime resident of Dallas, passed away Monday, August 11, 2009 in Flower Mound, Texas. She was born April 10, 1917 in Fort Worth, Texas to Charlie E. Hardin and Ophelia Belle Smith Hardin. Dorothy was a graduate of Forest Avenue High School in Dallas. She married George Henry Goff who preceded her in death on December 31, 1988.Dorothy was very active in her church, Lake Highlands Baptist, where she had been a member since her teenage years. She was involved with the Women's Missionary Union, and was active in mission projects all over the Dallas area, and took special care of those in need. She and George also accompanied the youth groups on mission trips to the Rio Grande area and to New Mexico and Arizona. Dorothy was involved in the local schools where her sons attended. She was PTA president of several schools in Dallas, and was president of the Dallas City Council PTA from 1969 - 1970. This was the pivotal year of busing and desegregation in the Dallas Independent School District. She also enjoyed working alongside George at the "farm" - their 85 acre hideaway northeast of Dallas. They tended a garden as well as many horses, goats and cattle through the years. They also hosted many parties and retreats at the farm for church, family, school and civic groups.She is survived by her son, George Ronald Goff and his wife, Linda of Flower Mound; son, Timothy Hardin Goff of Edmond, OK; grandchildren Shelley Elizabeth Condon (husband Craig), Zachary Hardin Goff (wife Katie), Gregory Robert Goff (wife Julie), Sally Ann Cevallos (husband Raul) and Alison Michelle Oliver (husband Jeremiah); great-grandchildren Kelsey Schenck, Catherine Schenck, Keeton Schenck, Chloe Schenck, Alex Goff, Lindi Goff, Anna Goff, George R. Goff, Caroline Goff, Alison Cevallos and Keely Oliver.A Memorial service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2009, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. Burial will be at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
