Doris Jean McFarling, 84, of Sherman, died Monday February 20, 2017 at Texoma Care Center in Sherman.
Mrs. McFarling was born on September 18, 1932 in Houston to MZ and Nona Mae (Phillips) Hughes. She was married to Jackie C. McFarling, Sr. in 1953 in McKinney, TX; he died on April 27, 1980. She co-owned an insurance company with her husband; was a realtor and retired from Verizon Telephone Company.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Nichols and her husband Rick of Collinsville; brothers, Bill Hughes of OK, George Hughes and his wife Brenda of McKinney, Jim Hughes and his wife Gayle of McKinney; daughter-in-law, Ellen Walker of South Padre Island; grandchildren, Ricky A. Nichols of Collinsville, Sarah K. Nichols of Collinsville, Eric Schertz of AL, Nicole Schertz of Austin; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara McFarling; son, Jack C. McFarling, Jr. and  brother, Ronnie Hughes.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 24, 2017 at Roselawn Memorial Park, 3801 Roselawn Dr., Denton.
