Doris Beaty Bolton Downard passed away June 1, 2015 at the age of 84.
No services are planned. She will be buried at Shiloh Cemetery in Corinth. Memorials: Any charities for the benefit of animals.
Born in Aubrey, Texas January 24, 1931 to Dowlas and Lena Beaty. She grew up in Denton, Texas and graduated from Denton High School. She met Wilkie Bolton Jr. on the Denton Courthouse Square one Saturday night and 5 years later they married March 1, 1951. They had two children, Cindy Doris and Dan Wilkie. Together the family farmed in Roanoke, Texas until the untimely death of Wilkie in 1969. Four years later Dan passed. A cousin introduced Doris to Robert Downard and they were married in 1973. Robert was father to Robert "Dana" Downard. Together Doris and Robert shared many new interests including bird watching and feeding critters in the back yard, and camping in Big Bend National Park in their Rockwood. Anything new they became interested in, they did it in a big way! Dana passed in 2002 and Robert passed in 2007.
Doris was an accomplished homemaker enjoying sewing, cooking, gardening and just being on the farm with all it had to offer. She was a room mother at the Keller Schools for Cindy and Dan's classes for several years. Doris also sewed for the public to include apparel and home décor. Once she accepted a project to repair costumes on mechanical animated characters at a local pizza parlor. She passed her sewing and cooking skills on to her daughter, Cindy, and introduced "Slush Puppies" and the art of enjoying a box of Russell Stovers to her granddaughter Alicia. Doris moved from the farm after 52 years in 2012 to be closer to her daughter, 5 doors down and remained independent until recently.
Special thank you to Dr. Allan Kelly, Sandy, Paula and Diane, Green Valley Healthcare and Joyce, and Heart to Heart Hospice and Lisa.
Doris is survived by her daughter and best friend, Cindy, granddaughter Alicia Downard and her mother Diane Talbot. Beloved cats Earl and Paisley and grandcats Anabelle and Sparkle and greatgrandcats The Cinco Babies.
The light has now been turned off.
