Donald T. "Don" McWhinney

Donald Theodore "Don" McWhinney died peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2024 in Dallas. He was born November 17, 1938, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Rupert Theodore McWhinney and Helen Roberta Edwards. He was a 1956 graduate of Raytown High School. He attended Bethany Nazarene College in Oklahoma City where he met Lillie Marie Cox. They married on September 2, 1960 in Dallas. After earning an MBA, he worked in marketing and sales for Western Electric and Xerox. His deep faith led him into development with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association as well as Fellowship Bible Church and Trinity Christian Academy both in Dallas. In his later career, he identified petroleum producing properties for W.R. Grace. Before retiring with symptoms of dementia, he taught business administration at the college level and served as a hospice chaplain in several counties in East Texas.

He is survived by his wife and sons, John and Jimmy, and many loving family members in Texas and Oklahoma. After a family graveside service at Shiloh Cemetery in Corinth, Texas, a memorial service will be held at 11am Tuesday July 2 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust St., Denton, Texas.
