Donald Joseph Gearen was born on October 11, 1960 to Pat and Peggy Gearen in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He married Freda Gearen on January 24, 1997 and gained three sons, Derrick, Carlton and James Fulton, all of whom gave him grandkids that could do no wrong in his eyes.

Donnie was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served his country from 1979-1982 as a combat engineer. He loved working with his hands and could often be found in the garage working on and building race cars and go-karts with his son, Derrick. They enjoyed many years racing together. In his free time, Donnie and Freda enjoyed road trips on his beloved Harley Davidson and traveling to visit grandkids and watch them compete in various sporting events. Donnie was a dedicated worker and took pride in his position as a superintendent for Century Mechanical Contractors where he spent many years. Century staff served as a second family to Donnie.

On January 27th, 2021, Donnie gained his heavenly wings peacefully while surrounded by family in Denton, Tx. He is survived by his loving wife Freda Gearen, his mother Peggy Gearen, his sons, Derrick, Carlton and James Fulton, brothers Josh and John Gearen and sister Jackie Baird. Donnie is also survived by his six grandchildren, Jessica, McKieley, Tristen, Blaine, Trevor and Ryleigh as well as many nieces and nephews. Donnie was loved fiercely and will be missed sorely by all who knew him.

A viewing will be held Monday, February 1st, at 6:00pm, followed by a 7:00pm memorial service at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home at 705 N. Locust St. Denton, TX 76201. Donnie will be honored and laid to rest at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date in a small, family only ceremony.
