Rev. Donald Lee Dakin, 55, of Krum, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton.
Rev. Dakin was born on September 30, 1962 in Heidelberg, Germany to Earl Richard and Lillian Mae (Small) Dakin. He married Tara Leigh Miller on August 4, 1987 in Clarksville, TN. He worked in the catalogue department at the University of North Texas Libraries. Don was a 2008 graduate of Nazarene Bible College, with a BA in Christian Education, and was an ordained elder. He served as an associate pastor in Woodlawn, Tennessee and then pastored Dyersburg First Church of the Nazarene for over nine years. Don was the Associate Pastor of Student Ministries at Hope Community Church of the Nazarene, Denton. He loved to spend time with his family, play golf, and talk about God. He was also a dedicated FC Dallas fan.
Don is survived by his wife, Tara Dakin of Krum, daughter, Ashley Mendoza and her husband Jimmy of Denton; son, MacKenzie Dakin and his wife Kayla of Krum; brother, Richard Dakin of Paris, TN; and granddaughter, Alexis Mendoza.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Hope Community Church of the Nazarene,
3600 Kings Row, Denton
. Dr. Burnie Burnside will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Jackson Cemetery in Krum.
