Donald M. Dyer, age 85, of Joshua, TX, passed away Sunday morning, March 1, 2009 in Crowley following a long illness. Don was born September 16, 1923 in Grapevine to James Vincent Dyer and Mary Alice Morrison. Don retired from the Fort Worth ISD as a Leadman supervising crews installing fencing and other projects around the school district. He served his country during World War II with the 15th Air Force based in Italy. He loved fishing and hunting and was baptized into the Methodist church at the age of 15. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Dyer in 2003. Don is survived by his daughter; Carol Jean Chick and her husband, Randy of Joshua; sons, Ronnie Dyer and his wife, Linda of Burleson and Covey Dyer and his girlfriend, Sheryl Opperman and her daughter, Kristi of Keller; grandchildren, Shannon Dyer, Leschel Prior and her husband, Gavin, Chelsey Dyer, Whitney Dyer and Randi Lynn Chick; great grandchildren, Bobby Akers, Joey Akers and Kaylin Dyer and many other relatives and friends. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Don's name to the Crowley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 920 E. FM 1187, Crowley, Texas 76036. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009 from 7:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at the funeral home. Don's funeral service will be at 10:00a.m., Wednesday, March 4th, 2009 in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, Lewisville, Texas. Interment will follow in the Flower Mound Cemetery, Dyer Section.
