Dawn La Rue Haueter Eggett was born July 21, 1926 and passed peacefully to the next life Dec. 15, 2015. Dawn was the sixth of seven children born to Clarice Mae Ohwiler and Charles Haueter in Magna, Utah. She endured many hardships in her youth. Her father died on the eve of her eleventh birthday. In 1939 her mother married Edward Jacobson and the family moved to Bountiful, Utah in 1940. The Bountiful home had 13 acres around it and had all sorts of farm animals. She has always loved animals and often milked their cow. She attended Davis H.S. where she met Merle Eggett. While Merle was stationed in Montana with the Air Corps, she would walk over 2 miles to 5 Points market and help her future mother-in-law tend the store while waiting for the weekly phone call from Merle. They were married on April 26, 1945. She and Merle celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on August 23, 1956. Dawn was a faithful and committed member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved serving with the young children in Primary and was one of the first Cub Scout leaders in the Bountiful area. Having taken piano lessons for only a few weeks, she taught herself to play using the Church Hymns. She later taught herself the organ and became the organist for many years in both her Utah and Texas congregations. At 5'2", she was always the yardstick that the grand kids used to measure against. When they grew taller she would always try to get them to match her muscles. She was a crack-shot and loved to hunt deer and pheasants. Dawn loved to play/win games whether marbles, board games or jacks. Dawn was a hard worker and never failed to give her all at any task. In her latter years she treasured the opportunity to serve in the Dallas Texas Temple. She loved her Heavenly Father and shared that love and commitment with her children. She is survived by her husband, Merle, and their 4 children; Clyde (Kris) Eggett, Gloria (Bill Evans) Evans, Michael (Lorie) Eggett, Connie (Rick) Martino, 20 grandchildren and 38 Great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Denton 4th Ward, 3000 Old North Rd. Saturday December 19. Visitation at 10:00-10:40 and funeral at 11:00 am.
