David (Dave) P. Lucas, 66, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022, in Denton TX.

Dave was born May 4, 1956, in El Paso, TX.  He was the son of the late Harold and Carol (Gambill) Lucas.  In 1974 he graduated from Dodge City High School.  Dave married the love of his life, Helen Berghaus, on February 26, 1983.

Helen and Dave moved to the Dallas, TX area in 1989.   He retired from A-1 Auto Glass in May 2022 after many years of auto glass repair.  Racing was one of Dave's passions.  NASCAR, go karts, lawn mowers, anything with wheels was fair game.  He was "the best neighbor," always ready to help when there was a need.  If he wasn't racing, he would be on the water skiing or fishing.  There may have been a time or two he raced a boat. Dave was FAMOUS for his barbeque, lasagna and homemade chicken noodle soup.  Uncle Dave taught the nieces, great nieces, and great nephews to water ski, and was known for making sure they found any trouble that could be fun.

Dave leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Helen of 39 years, and fur-babies Petey and Charlie of the home.  Sister Lori (Tom) Schaffer and brother Mike (Dee) Lucas.  Brother-in-law Rod (Colleen) Wormington.  Nieces:  Dawn Williams (Charlie), Lyndsey Sander (Austin), Michelle Schriner (Todd), Sarah Lucas; Nephews:  Eric (Holly) Lucas, Mike Lucas and a host of other nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ken and a sister Gloria.

Memorial service will be held at the Dodge City First United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 10:30 AM with Rev. Jerre Nolte presiding. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Speedway Children's Charities; 5555 Concord Parkway South, Concord, NC 28027. speedwaycharities.org
