David was born November 15, 1942 in Purcell, Oklahoma. He later moved to Galva, Kansas where he attended school until he graduated in 1961. He married Marlene Johnson on July 7, 1961 and they had three children. He attended Sydney's Hairdressing College in Hutchinson, Kansas and after graduating, David and Marlene opened their own beauty salon in Smith Center, Kansas. Later, he drove commercial trucks where he traveled all over the United States. He settled in Texas, where he worked as a shipping and receiving agent for a maintenance supply warehouse until he retired in 2009.
He went to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on November 11, 2011. David was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Kermit and Grace Kennedy, and a brother, Earl Draughn. He is survived by two sisters, Shirley Unruh and her husband Derald and Ann Brucker and her husband Dennis, all of Galva, Kansas; his former wife, Marlene Kennedy of Crossroads, Texas; three children, Mylin Maddox and her husband Lee of Mansfield, Texas; Devon Kennedy and his wife Suzanne of Ponder, Texas and Danielle Jones and her husband, Larry of Frisco, Texas. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Sean, Stephan, and Kristen Phillips, Michael Privitt and Cody Kennedy, Nicole Jones and Erik Kennedy and one great grandchild, Breanne Phillips and numerous nieces and nephews.
At his request, there will be no services held and he also hoped to benefit others by choosing organ donation and we have honored that wish. Should you choose to honor David, the family suggests a donation in his name to the charity of your choice.
