Obituary

David Newton Houston, III was born in Dallas March 25, 1949 to David (Jack) and Adell Houston. After graduating from Kimbell High School he attended Texas Tech in Lubbock and later served in the Special Forces as a Green Beret during the Vietnam War.

After getting out of the service he worked with his dad at Jack's Truck Parts and Heavy Equipment and later went to work for Ft. Worth Gear & Axle where he worked for over 20 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lewisville.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki Bacon, two daughters; Dena Horton and husband, Matt of Poolville, Texas and Dinah Houston of Arlington and one granddaughter, Shelby Horton of Poolville. He is also survived by his mother, Adell Houston and sister, Gwyne Miller and her husband, Todd of Terrell, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father on October 1, 2001.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at First Baptist Church in Lewisville. Interment will follow in Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville. Dr. Stephen G. Hatfield will officiate the service. In Lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions made to First Baptist Church of Lewisville or to the organization of donor's choice.
