Obituary

David Michael Greene, 66 of Denton, Texas, passed away at home August 1, 2011 after a long illness. He was born in Denison, Texas on July 5, 1945 to Lois and D.J. Greene of Pottsboro, Texas. He lived in Grayson County for many years before moving to Denton County. He married Jernell Holbrook on November 26, 1969 at the Georgetown Baptist Church near Pottsboro, Texas. He served four years in the US Navy. He was a railroad conductor for the MKT (Katy) Railroad in Denison Texas for many years. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad October 1, 2006. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and playing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife and best friend Jernell Greene of Denton, daughter Melanie Stegmaier and husband James of Denton, son Michael Greene of Denton and three grandchildren Kailin Greene, Ryan Stegmaier and Micaela Stegmaier. He is also survived by his sister Martha Heath and her husband Carl of Forney, Texas, and three sisters- in-law Terisa O'Dowd and her husband Richard of Howe, Texas, Mary Malear and her husband Graylen of Pottsboro, Texas and Barbara O'Toole and her husband Don of Slaughters, Kentucky along with several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents; father, David J (D.J.) Greene and mother, Lois Greene.
The family would like to send out a special thank you to the VNA Ann's Haven Hospices of Denton for all of their support. A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas on Friday August 5, 2011 at 10am. with Chaplain Karen Calafat, officiating. Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
