David Droste Frank, much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, died on Nov. 28, 2011. His wit, intellect, spirit and friendship were loved and will bring fond and happy memories for all.
He was born on Sept. 4, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA to Mabel and Arthur Frank. Raised in Hartford, CT, he was married to Marcia Peaslee of West Hartford, CT on April 10, 1948.
He is survived by his wife Marcia, children Wendy and Chuck Munson, and Tom Frank, all of Bellevue, WA; Mary and Bob McKenzie, of Mill Valley, CA; and Amy Porter of Richardson, TX; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving him are his sister-in-law and brother, Jane and Arthur Frank, Jr., of West Hartford, CT, and many nieces and nephews.
He served in WWII as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Field Artillery in the China-Burma-India Theatre, from 1943 through 1945. Upon graduation from the Princeton University Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs in 1947, he worked as a reporter for the Wall Street Journal. From 1949 until 1954, he was employed by the public relations department of the American Locomotive Company in Schenectady, NY and Montreal, Canada. In 1954, he joined the public relations firm of T.J. Ross and Associates in New York City, NY. In 1973, he also served as president of the New York Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. He was president of the Ross firm for six years, before retiring in 1986.
He and his wife retired to Kerrville, TX in 1989, where they lived until 2002. They were active in Habitat for Humanity of Kerr County and Friends of the Library. In 2002, they moved to Denton, TX, and made their home at the Good Samaritan Lake Forest Village.
A memorial service will be held on 10 am on December 6, 2011, at Mead Chapel, Good Samaritan Lake Forest Village, 3901 Montecito Dr., Denton, TX. A private burial service will be held at a later time.
