David “Scott” Chaney, 62, of Trophy Club, Texas, went to be with Jesus on February 25, 2026, after bravely battling early on-set Alzheimer’s disease.

Scott was born on April 7, 1963 in South Bend, Indiana. Scott was the son of the late Eugene and Betty (Miller) Chaney. He graduated from Mishawaka High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1984 to 1991. After his enlistment, he worked in the aviation industry for a period prior to joining the Euless Police Department in 1993. David served the police department in patrol, bike and tactical units, investigations, gang units, and community services. He retired from the force after 23 years of service at the rank of Lieutenant.

Scott married Stephanie Berry in 2016. Together, they moved with their family to Trophy Club, Texas, and enjoyed Elvis movies and music, travel, and Scott’s unique sense of humor.

Scott is survived by his wife, Stephanie; daughter Elaina Meeks and son-in-law Scott Meeks of Saginaw, Texas; grandchildren Kaleb, Evelyn, and Elias; mother Betty Miller Huffman and step-father Ron Huffman of Arlington, Texas; brother Michael Chaney of Fort Worth, TX; sister Diane Anderson and her husband Jeff of Waxahachie, Texas; and many very special and loved nieces and nephews. His beautiful niece Christa Parcus is the mother of his great nephews, Riley Garcia, Tyler Newman and Jaxon Anderson. Additionally, he is survived by his nephew Drew Anderson and his wife beautiful Caitlin and their children, Ava, Everett, and Eli; and mother-in-law Sharon Dahl of Flower Mound.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Chaney, and stepson Joshua Berry.

The family will have a private celebration of Scott’s life and he will be laid to rest at Roselawn memorial Park in Denton, Texas.

In lieu of-flowers, the family requests if anyone wishes to make a donation that they do so to the charity of their choice in Scott’s honor.
