It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David James Anderson, a beloved son, brother, and friend. David passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 22, 2026, at his mother's home in Denton, Texas. He was 49 years old.

David was born on August 2, 1976, and was a resident of Burleson, Texas. He is survived by his loving mother, Connie Smith Anderson Peek of Denton; his devoted twin sister, Amanda Anderson Tefertiller, her husband, Russ, and their son, Nolan, of Argyle, Texas; and his sister, Audrey Butler Scott, and her family of Waco, Texas. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews who adored him.

David was preceded in death by his father, James Anderson of Waco, Texas; his maternal grandparents, Frank and Elveta Smith of Robinson, Texas, and Bobbie Smith of Waco, Texas; and his best friend, Eric Lindsey of Waco, Texas.

David graduated from Lorena High School in Lorena, Texas, in 1994. He participated in Marine Corps JROTC and was a member of the LHS Marching Band drumline.

David proudly served in the Texas State Guard from August 2013 to October 2016, where he excelled as a marksman. Among his numerous accolades, he was awarded the prestigious Governor's Twenty Award and earned top honors in pistol competitions. His dedication and skill were a testament to his character.

David was a man of many passions. He was deeply involved in classic car restoration, especially Mustangs, and enjoyed attending races, Cowboys and Rangers games, and concerts with friends. His love for riding was evident in his commitment to the ABATE and Burleson HOG groups, where he formed lasting friendships with fellow enthusiasts.

Above all, David was known for his loyalty, servant-hearted nature, and dedication to his friends and family. He was the kind of person who always went above and beyond, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met.

A funeral service to celebrate David's life will be held at the Burleson Church of the Nazarene in Burleson, Texas, on Friday, June 26, 2026. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the service at 10 a.m. A graveside service will take place at Rosemound Cemetery in Waco, Texas, at 2:45 p.m. on the same day. His Pastor, Marty Clock of Cross Canyon Cowboy Church in Burleson, Texas, will officiate the services. Special thanks to Pastor Alton Ashby of Burleson Church of the Nazarene in Burleson, Texas, for opening his church for us. Attendees will be invited to share a special memory if desired.

Pallbearers honoring David's memory include his uncle Mike Anderson; friends Tyler Ashby, Austin Cargile, Roger Ellis, Tim Hutchinson, Andrew Robinson; his stepfather James Peek; his brother-in-law Russ Tefertiller; and his best friend Alan Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Arlington ABATE, Bikers Giving Back 2026, or Toys for Tots, reflecting David's generous spirit and commitment to giving back to the community.

David James Anderson will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and passion will continue to inspire those he left behind. Because David was a follower of Christ, we are comforted knowing that we will see him again in Heaven.
