IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David Carroll
Amos
May 27, 1953 – February 6, 2023
David Carroll Amos, 69, of Denton, died Monday, February 6, 2023 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton.
Mr. Amos was born on May 27, 1953 in Denton to George Denver and Mary Jo (Watkins) Amos. He was married to Susan Gay Bell on August 22, 1973. He owned and operated the Amos Shell Service Station for many years.
David Amos was the type of man to give the shirt off his back to a stranger. When he owned Amos Shell he made sure people got what they needed to get where they were going; even if they had no money. He went out of his way to make sure people felt welcome and a part of the family. He was a role model and father figure to a lot of his kids friends. Even allowed a few of them to stay at his house so they could graduate high school. And of course we can't forget about the world famous six story tree house he built for family and friends. It is as unbelievable as some of the stories he would tell. And the parties that were had will be legendary, just as he will be. Oh, the stories that will be told and cherished. He was a great dad and friend to all. I hope he knew how truly loved he was by so many. He will forever be "The Famous Amos".
David is survived by his wife Susan Gay Amos of Denton; daughters, Betty Jo, Carolyn, Ginger; grandchildren, Hayleigh, Brooklyn; siblings, Karen Heenan, husband Patrick Heenan, Ginger Sanderson, husband Bob Sanderson, Paul Amos, wife Della Amos, and Steve Amos.
