Danny Lee Bates Sr, 63, of Sanger, Texas, passed away on August 15, 2021, unexpectedly in his sleep.
He was born to parents Rufus Frank Bates and Shirley Ann Bates (Bewley), on August 10, 1958, in Bethany, Oklahoma. He graduated from Putman City West High School in 1976 and received his degree in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State Institute of Technology in 1978. After college, he was hired at EMC Plastics as a Maintenance Technician, where he met the love of his life, Sharon Bates (Horn) of Denton, Texas. They were married on October 20, 1979, at Asbury Methodist Church in Denton, Texas. In 1986, he began working for Tetra Pak as an Electrical Technician in Denton, Texas where he was employed for 27 years.
Danny is survived by his wife, Sharon Bates; his mother Shirley Ann Bates of Fate, Texas; his two children Jem Black of Corinth, Texas and Danny Bates Jr of Rowlett, Texas, grandchildren Payton Black, Jalen Black, Hailey Bates and Hannah Bates; brothers Darryl Bates, wife Kim, and sons Christopher and Jason of Midlothian, Texas; David Bates, wife Traci, and daughter Katelynn of Fate, Texas; Danny was preceded in death by his father Rufus Frank Bates and sisters Karen and Sharon Bates.
Danny was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed Ham Radio as a hobby, which he shared with his wife and son. Anytime a storm would come through the area, he would check in and provide up to date information to the National Weather Service. Danny also had a love for music mainly on vinyl records, finding new gadgets, and always interested in the latest technology.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 20, 2021, 6:00-8:00pm at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home 705 N Locust Street Denton, Texas 76201. The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021, at the funeral home at 2:00pm. Burial will follow the funeral service at Roselawn Memorial Park 3801 Roselawn Drive Denton, Texas 76207.
