Daniel Martin Lopez, Sr., 64, of San Antonio, died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Stone Oak Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.
Mr. Lopez was born on November 3, 1948 in Cheyenne, WY to Theodore Martin Lopez, Sr. and Josephine Mary Lopez. After attending the University of Wyoming, he worked in the Accounting Department at St Vincent DePaul Hospital in Cheyenne, WY for three years. He then worked as the State Budget Director for the State of Wyoming under Governor Ed Herschler for three years. After working for the State of Wyoming, he worked for the University of Wyoming College of Human Medicine as their Budget Director for eight years. He moved to San Antonio and worked for the Texas Department of Human Services for more than 20 years before he retired.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Denton Bible Church Chapel, 2300 E. University Dr., Denton. Rev. Tom Nelson will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Daniel is survived by sons, Daniel Lopez, Jr. of Dover, DE, Brian Lopez of San Antonio, Craig Lopez of Briggs; daughter, Cassondra Neale of Denton; brothers, Theodore Lopez, Jr. of Commerce City, CO, Joseph Lopez of Fort Collins, CO; sisters, Cynthia Richmond of Cheyenne, WY, Anna Russell of Cheyenne, WY, Susanna Lopez of Cheyenne, WY, Theresa Scott of Aurora, CO, Rose Lopez of Boulder, CO, Nyla Goody of Dallas; nine grandchildren, Alexis Lopez of Newburgh, NY, Sophia Neale of Denton, Olivia Neale of Denton, Marian Lopez of Briggs, Abigail Lopez of Briggs, Daniel Lopez of Briggs, Joseph Lopez of Briggs, Cheyenne Lopez of San Antonio, Rebecca Grier of Dover, DE.
He enjoyed a good laugh, a good meal, and a good conversation. Daniel never met a stranger and he loved to entertain others with his stories. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids, and other family members.
