Lt. Col. (retired) Dan Roberts Skinner, 85, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2012. He
was born February 22, 1927 in Waco, Texas to Sam and Elma Skinner.
He married Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Acock on June 2, 1951 in Corsicana, Texas. Together they
enjoyed the blessings of three children, eight grandchildren, and ten great
grandchildren.
Dan proudly served as a pilot in the United States Air Force. During his 25 years of
service, he was awarded honors such as The Distinguished Flying Cross, The Air Force
Commendation Medal, and The Air Medal among others. He served in World War II in the
United States Navy and two separate tours in the United States Air Force in The Vietnam
War. While flying his favorite plane, the C130, in the Air force, Dan and his family
lived in Hawaii, Japan, Okinawa and many states within the US.
Retiring in Texas, Dan became an avid fisherman. His love of fishing earned him and his
grandson Angler of the Year in a local tournament trail.
Dan is survived by his wife of 61 years, Liz Skinner, and three children, Sheri Parker,
Debra Skinner, and Dan Skinner Jr., his sister, Bettie Morris, eight grandchildren and
ten great grandchildren.
A memorial celebrating the blessed life of Dan Roberts Skinner will be held at 11 a.m.
Tuesday July 3rd at Singing Oaks Church of Christ.
