Cynthia Farlow, of Denton, Texas died Monday, July 12, 2010 in Baylor Medical Center. She was blessed with a long life well-lived, and died after a short but brave fight against acute leukemia.
Born in Quemado, Texas, July 25 1939, to Raymond and Belle Cochran, Cynthia was an excellent student and a talented artist. After receiving a degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1961 from Texas Tech University, she taught high school English and Art in Midland and Big Spring, Texas. Once her sons Michael and Matt were born, she retired from teaching to raise her family.
For years Cynthia served as a discussion leader in Bible Study Fellowship, International, showing love and kindness to many hundreds of people. She loved to enjoy God's creation, drinking in the beauty of Texas bluebonnets, autumn leaves in New England and everything in between. Her faithfulness, compassion and acts of service will be missed by her many dear friends and family.
Family was hugely important to Cynthia. She is survived by her husband, Tom, her sons Michael and Matt, his wife Jennifer and their three daughters Ellie, Chloe and Emma; her sister Rosalyn and her husband Bill; her brother Ross, and many cousins.
After a private burial at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, a memorial service will be held Saturday, July 17, at 1:00pm at First United Methodist Church in Denton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Bible Study Fellowship, International (19001 Huebner Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78258) or to a charity of your choice.
