Connie Treen went to be with her Lord on August 9, 2016. She was born Marie Constance Tawresey in Montclair, New Jersey on July 1, 1930. Her parents were John Squires Tawresey of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Ethel Kilpatrick of Boston, Massachusetts. Connie moved to Toledo, Ohio during WW II where she graduated from Ottawa Hills High School where she served as the editor of the school newspaper and yearbook. She attended college at the University of Toledo. Connie married Louis Somers Treen in 1949 and lived in Philadelphia, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, and then Lancaster, Ohio where her six children grew up. Connie and Lou moved to Texas in 1980. She was an active member of the Southmont Baptist Church in Denton and most recently attended First Baptist Church in Dallas.
Connie's husband, Lou predeceased her in 2009 shortly after they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her six children including daughters Susan (Edward) Flynn of Arlington, Virginia, Elizabeth Libby (Nick) Gold of Pitton, England, Sheryl (John) Freese of Westerville, Ohio, and Dr. Meridith Treen of Dallas, Texas; sons Richard M. (Lillian) Treen of Stavanger, Norway and James B. (April) Treen of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Connie also leaves behind her dear friend and adored partner Mike Maurer with whom she shared the past several years. The family wishes to thank all those who provided prayers and support during Connie's most recent illness.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust St., Denton, TX 76201. Dr. Larry Reynolds will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Samaritan's Purse at www.samaritanspurse.org
