Clydene Powell Allison, of Bowie, Texas, entered fully into the presence of the Lord on March 8,
2024. She was born September 12, 1936, to Ruth Boren and Orville Prato in Denton, Texas.
She was raised by her mother Ruth and uncle Clyde Boren until her mother met and married.
Bill Thompson when she was four years old.
Clydene attended Denton High School and was in the graduating class of 1954. She was a
member of Full Gospel Family Worship, Denton Odd Fellows, the Rebekah Lodge, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 2205 since 1968. Clydene was Denton through and through.
Clydene married her childhood sweetheart, Arthur Lee Powell, on February 11, 1955, and they
were blessed with a daughter, Karen, and two sons, John, and David. She loved being a Girl.
Scout and raised her three children in the Scouts, as well.
Throughout the years, she worked as a secretary at Green Giant Company, Soil Conservation,
Morrison Milling Company, Turbo Refrigeration, and City Secretary of Oak Point. It was at the
Green Giant Company where she met Donald Allison. She fell in love with him as he whistled.
and sang while he worked. He thought she was beautiful. They served together at the party.
planning committee which is where they got to know each other. One thing they immediately
had in common, they loved to laugh together. They were married two years later March 1,
1974. They eventually opened Don's Garage in Little Elm. In 2006, they moved to "Butter Cup
Ranch" in Bowie, Texas where Don resides today.
Clydene is preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Leonard Pritchett of Denton, ex-husband.
Arthur Powell of Denton, uncle Clyde Boren of Houston, and cousins Juanell Snow of Denton,
Virgie Richardson of Denton, Reba Galler of Lewisville, Donna Boren Johnson of Denton, and
many more loving family members.
Clydene is survived by her husband of 50 years, Donald Allison of Bowie, and daughter Karen.
Gentry of Denton, son John Powell and wife Shannon of Oregan, son David Powell and wife
Carrie of Denton, grandchildren Jayme Conder and husband Nick of Keller, Jill Gentry of
Denton, and Chris Gentry of Denton, Jack Powell of Denton, and great grandchildren Ashia
Gentry of Denton, and Scarlett, Bailey, Zane, and Adley Conder of Keller.
Services will be held at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home in Denton at 2:00pm on
Saturday March 16, 2024. Pastor Randy Nusbaum will officiate. In lieu of flowers please
donate to your favorite charity.
