Claudia D. Mulkey, 75 of Denton, former Denton County Treasurer, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton. She was born September 20, 1932 in Fairview Community of Wise County, TX to Claude Chesley and Jewell (Denman) Montgomery. She was a graduate of Decatur High School. She was married to Laddie Mulkey on July 3, 1952 in Denton. She is a member of the First Baptist Church, and was Denton County Treasurer an office which she held from 1982 until 1998, and had worked for North Texas Savings and Loan Association for fourteen years before. She was member of the Shakespeare Club, and the Texas Association of County Treasurers.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 in the First Baptist Church,. 1100 Malone St. Denton, with Dr. Jeff Williams and Rev. Cliff Feeler, officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton on Monday, May 19, 2008 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. for visitation. The Pallbearers will be her Grandsons. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, or the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Mulkey is survived by her husband, Laddie Mulkey, of Denton, daughters and sons in law, Penni and Monte Mason, of Denton, Cindy and Peter Ueland, of Denton, son, Rodney Mulkey, of Oklahoma City and son and daughter in law, Ricky and Sheryl Mulkey, of Denton, also two sisters Nita Roach, of Fort Worth, and Jo Johnson, of Newark, and Ten Grandchildren and Seven Great Grandchildren.
