IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cindy Sue
Handt
May 8, 1963 – November 17, 2024
Cindy Sue Handt, age 61, of Argyle, Texas, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, November 17, with her husband of 38 years, Leon, by her side.
Born on May 8, 1963, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Cindy was the third of four daughters to Donald and Karen Riley. She graduated from Avon High School in 1981 and then attended Vincennes University, where she met her future husband, Leon. Cindy went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Merchandising and Interior Design from Ball State University. In addition to her passion for the creative arts, Cindy had a gift for caring for others, leading her to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Indiana University.
Cindy's 27-year career as a nurse, caring for mothers and infants, reflected her compassion and dedication to others. She earned additional recognition as a Level IV NCAP (Nursing Career Advancement Program) nurse, with multiple awards for excellence.
Her greatest love and joy were reserved for her family. She and Leon raised two beautiful daughters, Lauren and Abigail. Cindy later became a beloved Mimi to her adoring grandchildren, choosing to eventually retire early to spend more time with them.
Cindy continued to embrace her creativity and artistic nature, spending much of her free time quilting and sewing. Her beautiful works were found winning first-place awards at the Dallas Quilt Show and adorning the homes of those she loved. Cindy looked most forward to trips to Hawaii with her family, where she found relaxation and treasured time together. Faith was a crucial part of her life. Cindy was an active member of St. Mark Catholic Church, participating in ministries and Bible studies.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Leon Handt; her daughters, Lauren Raines (husband Michael) and Abigail Alsup (husband Todd); her grandchildren, Lucas, Caroline, and Madeleine Raines; her sisters, Holly Bourne (husband Kyle), Teri Riley, and Tracy King (husband John); and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends.
Her kindness, creativity, and devotion to her family and faith will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
