Obituary

Cindy Parker DeFoore passed away on February 25, 2025 in Denton, Texas. She was 69 years of age at the time of her death. She was born on August 5, 1955 in Pulaski, New York to Bruce and Helen Parker.

After completing business school in Rochester, New York, she moved to Dallas where she held several different positions in business management. Among other jobs, she worked for Fox and Jacobs builders, and then held a position as office manager with a company called Nickles and Dimes, where she headed up their racehorse operation for 20 years before becoming co-owner with her husband of Halcyon Life Enterprises, LLP in the year 2001.

Cindy married William (Bill) DeFoore on June 2, 2001 in Dallas, Texas, followed by an informal marriage ceremony in Florence, Italy on June 21, 2001. William (Bill) DeFoore, Ph.D. L.P.C. is a counselor with over 50 years' experience, and Cindy managed their business since their marriage in 2001.

From the time she was a small child, Cindy found comfort and peace in the presence of nature and animals. She and her cousins would hop on their horses bareback and take off for a full day of play in the beautiful countryside. She and Bill also had horses for the first few years of their 24-year marriage, before transitioning to keeping donkeys. Lulu, Penelope, and Gusto, our three donkeys are still here, and they miss the tender care that only Cindy could provide.

Cindy was also a very good dancer, and she and Bill took dance lessons together during their courtship, and into their marriage. They enjoyed travel and hiking, and always planned their trips with good hiking trails in mind.

Cindy and Bill are further blessed by amazing friends, who have been a central and essential part of their lives. Cindy played ukulele, and Bill plays guitar, and they enjoyed many hours of playing and singing together with their friends, as well as attending the many live music venues in the wonderful town of Denton, Texas.

Cindy was a very open-minded and curious explorer of the mysteries of this amazing life. She was an inspiration to Bill throughout their relationship, introducing him to new books and points of view. She loved to learn and expand her consciousness, always with a vision to be the best person she could be. And she was indeed a wonderful person. She smiled at everyone she saw, and they could not help but smile back. She was gracious and kind, especially to those who might be left out, ignored, or disregarded. This world is better for her having been here, and those who knew her will never forget her bright, elegant, and loving spirit.

Cindy is survived by her husband Bill (William DeFoore), her brothers-in-law, Rick DeFoore and Marney DeFoore, and their wives Janet DeFoore and Pam DeFoore, and her step-mother Judy Parker. She was also blessed to have loving nieces and nephews, and many, many little ones born to them. Cindy and Bill were further blessed by many loving cousins throughout the U.S.

Cindy and Bill were adopted by two families during their married life. They had no children of their own, but these chosen family members were and are precious to them. Brett and Susan Decker, as well as Jonathan and Andrea Newman welcomed Cindy and Bill into their hearts, homes, and lives, blessing them beyond measure.
