Christine Kay Simons Roach
Christy Roach left this earthly life and arrived in the arms of her Lord, Jesus Christ, on Nov. 11, 2024, after a heroic 14-month battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. At the time of her passing, she resided in Denton, TX with her husband of 14 years, Jay.
Born on Jan. 22, 1963, in Topeka, KS, to Jim & Rosemary Simons, Christy was the second of their two daughters. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her parents as well as her older sister, Amy Jennings and her husband Matt, niece Abby Faerber and her husband, Andrew of Overland Park, KS, and their daughters Maisie, Zoey and Penny, niece Molly Heady and her husband, Chris, of Fairway, KS and their daughters Grace and Annie, and nephew Mitchell Jennings and his wife Emma of Shawnee, KS. She is also survived by her aunts, Jessie Russell of Topeka, KS, and Lorraine Werner of Kansas City, MO along with many, many cousins from all over the country. Last, but certainly not least, she is survived by so many dear friends that to list them all would require an entire book.
Christy grew up in Topeka, ultimately graduating from Hayden High School with the class of 1981. She then attended Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS, graduating with a BA in Marketing in 1985. Following graduation, Christy embarked on her career utilizing her marketing skills, ultimately finishing with a 16-year stint with US Bank.
In 2008, Christy met her future husband, Jay, and the two were wed on May 15, 2010. In 2013, Jay took a job in the Dallas, TX metro area and they relocated to Denton.
Christy was a person of many passions, first and foremost her love of her Lord, followed closely by her family and friends. She remained a lifetime KSU Wildcat, following their various sports teams and enjoying many trips back to Manhattan. She also was a rabid Chiefs and Royals fan and ultimately adopted the Dallas Stars as her favorite hockey team. Other loves included festivals, travel, history and all animals, especially her dogs and cats. She was a caring, thoughtful friend whose love language was gift-giving. No one spent more time and energy trying to find the perfect gifts for her family and many, many friends.
