Obituary

Cherian Lucille Wendling, 85, passed away peacefully at home in Denton, TX on August 14, 2014. She was born on October 21, 1928 in Volga, SD to Joshua and Agnes Burdett. She lived most of her early life in Brookings, SD. With her husband, she lived in 6 different states before she moved to Denton in the 1970's.

She raised 6 children, while actively participating in many volunteer activities. These included the League of Women Voters, President of the Womens' Golf Association at Denton Country Club, docent at the Columbus, OH Museum of Art, Meals on Wheels, and 9 years at the University of N. Texas Environmental Studies Dept. She also taught adult literacy ESL in the US and Honduras. She valued the learning experience from her work at CloverPatch Hospital for cerebral palsy. While most of her life she was a homemaker, she worked with her husband for 8 1/2 years in their printing business in Fort Worth. Her volunteer work with St. Mark Catholic Church was very fulfilling to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest son, David Wendling. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Ernest Wendling; her children Mark Wendling, Marcia Dillahunty, Paul Wendling, Lisa Kethley, and Michael Wendling; her sister Peggy Foy; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass officiated by Fr. George will be held on Saturday, August 23 at 9:30 AM at St. Mark Catholic Church, 2800 Pennsylvania Drive in Denton, TX. Interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ann's Haven Hospice, at 325 W. McKinney St., Ste. 101, Denton, TX 76201.
