Charlotte Arlene Stellmach

November 4, 1938-September 29, 2022

Charlotte Arlene (Wood) Stellmach, 83, of Argyle, Texas, went to be with her Lord on September 29, 2022. A much loved wife, daughter, and mother, she is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, Gary Stellmach, a daughter, Renae Ayala and her husband Rudy Ayala, a brother, Ronald Wood, and his wife Dilva. She is also survived by many cousins nieces, and nephews.

A native of Iowa, she was born on a farm near Logan, Iowa to Anna Delbridge Wood and Fred James Wood. Charlotte grew up on farms near Storm Lake and Laurens Iowa. She was a member of 4-H exhibiting Home Economics projects as well as cattle and horses at the county and state levels. She was an accomplished equestrian, passing her love of horses on to her daughter. Charlotte and her father, Fred, were some of the first people in the state of Iowa to breed and raise pinto quarter horses. She later became the secretary for the Iowa State Pinto Horse Association.

Charlotte attended Iowa State University majoring in home economics and education. She would go on to teach at both Woodbine and LeMars, Iowa. In addition, Charlotte spent two years as the vice president and later the president of the Iowa State Home Economics Organization. She was an accomplished and avid seamstress throughout her life. She enjoyed making items for both family and friends.

Charlotte met her husband, Gary, while teaching in Le Mars. After several years of marriage, she chose to become a stay at home mother after their daughter, Renae, was born. After Renae went to college, Charlotte taught memory stimulation classes at the local nursing homes, and Nursing Nutrition classes for Western Iowa Tech Community College.

After spending many years as snow birds, Charlotte and Gary moved full-time to Argyle Texas in 2015 to be closer to their daughter, Renae. Charlotte will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her family and friends.

A celebration of her life will be announced and held at a later date.
