Charles David Mulkey, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Denton on November 5, 2015. The only child of John David and Mary Audra (Campbell) Mulkey, Charles was born January 17, 1933 in Denton, TX. He married Linda Fenton in Denton on August 23, 1957. To this union was born three daughters - Vickie (Dan) McQueen, Connie (Jack) McKeathen, and Tracie (B.J.) Lau. Linda preceded him in death December 29, 1992. He married Wanda Moeller on November 20, 1993 in Denton and with her brought her three sons – Randy (Karen), Ronny and Greg Moeller.
As a child, he attended Mayhill School, Duck Demonstration School and graduated Denton High School. He then attended North Texas State (UNT). He served as a firefighter in the Marines during the Korean War, was a self-employed building contractor with his dad and helped run the family hardware store -David Mulkey and Son Hardware here in town. He built and owned Royal Oaks Mobile Home Park and helped start the Mayhill-Cooper Creek Volunteer Fire Department in which he served for 25 years as a volunteer. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Denton.
He is survived by his wife Wanda of Denton, children and grandchildren: Jamie McKeathen, Jennifer (Nathan) Marple, Benjamin (Chelsea) McKeathen, Chuck (Tricia) McQueen, John and David Yarbrough, B.J. Lau, Jr., Tarra (Chris) Beale, Tiria (Blake) Martin, Kayce and Morgan Moeller, Taryn and Tymbre Peterson and great-grandchildren: Julia, Grayson, Sawyer Jack, Bryce, Kennedy and Kiele. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and twin grand-daughters.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at First Baptist Church, 1100 Malone St., Denton, TX at 11:00 A.M. Dr. Jeff Williams and Chuck McQueen will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
