On March 1, 2019, Charles Robert Heard, II, known to friends and family as Bob, gave up his valiant fight and passed away surrounded by his family.

Bob was born on December 26, 1945 and grew up in the Canal Zone of Panama. Bob joined the Navy in 1963 as a Sea-Bee and proudly served two tours in Vietnam, receiving the Purple Heart. Bob married Norma Abigail Prado in 1967 and they raised their family in Abilene and Round Rock, Texas, before moving to the Denton area 21 years ago.

Bob was a noble, unselfish and kind-hearted man. He never met a stranger and had a gift for seeing the best in everyone. Bob was generous to a fault, never hesitating to give you his last dime or the shirt off his back. Despite his own health challenges, Bob always chose to put the needs of others above his own.

Bob was an avid gun collector and a master story teller. He will be remembered for his hearty laugh, his terrible jokes and his immeasurable love for his family and his dogs. Bob was a faithful servant who knew that one day he would meet his maker and it would be a beautiful homecoming.

Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife and sweetheart of 52 years, Norma, his son Charles Robert (Bobby) Heard III (Roch Mikulak), and his daughter Martha Heard Sanders (Chad Sanders). His memory as Poppa will be treasured by his grandson Garrett Sanders. He will be missed by his stepbrothers Tom Kelley and Steve Kelley. Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents Charles Robert and Nann Heard, mother Gloria Kelley, stepfather Tom Kelley, and stepbrother Patrick Kelley.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 9, 2019 at 3:00 pm at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church 1200 N. Elm Denton, TX with The Rev. Donald K. Johnson officiating.  Visitation will take place on Friday evening from 6-8pm at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home 705 N. Locust, Denton. The committal service will be held on Monday March 11, 2019 at 1:00pm in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy. Dallas.
