Obituary

Charles Fagan was called to glory on December 22, 2023, while at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano.  He was ninety-two.  One of his brothers (James), an infant daughter (Kelli-Jean) and a son (Todd) preceded Charles into the Savior's arms.  He was devoted husband and loving father and is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years Luanne, daughter Patti Jo and Steve Van Manen (son-in-law), son, Tracy Fagan, son, Tobin and Christina Fagan (daughter-in-law), Irma Fagan (daughter-in-law) also grandchildren Kerri Jean, Erin, Lauren, Rochelli, Heather, Travis, Tyler, Andrea and seven great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his siblings Ruth Silverman, Raymond Fagan and Joseph Fagan, numerous nieces and nephews and in-laws and other family, and countless brothers and sisters in the Body of Christ.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Charles was a, giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything we needed.  He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage.

Charles earned his Bachelor of Science in Medicine from the University of Illinois in 1954, and his doctorate in medicine (M.D.) four years later.  After becoming a radiologist, Charles enlisted in the United States Army, serving posts in this country and in Panama.  After an internship in San Antonio and eleven years of honorable military service, Charles spent a short time in private practice in Houston.  However, most of his professional life (1967-1995) was on the faculty of the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where he became a tenured professor.  He received the Distinguished Service Award from the American Board of Radiology in 2000.  After formal retirement in 1995, Charles continued to serve as a field supervisor for resident training programs.  He wrote in a sketch of his professional life, "Were it possible, I would do it all over again!"

Our father was a true role model who we will always look up to.

The family would like to acknowledge The Legacy Willow Bend staff and Griswold Home Care especially Maria and Phannie for the love and care they provided Charles and his family.
