Catherine Ann Schoolfield passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012 at Denton Regional Medical Center. She was born in Wilson, Oklahoma on November 9, 1925 to parents H. Clay Schoolfield and Ruth Boyd Schoolfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother John Boyd Schoolfield, Sr. of Waxahachie, TX. She is survived by her sister, Mary Lynn Schoolfield of Washington, DC, and nieces Sara Maddux of Washington, DC and Mary Ann Hayes of St. Augustine, FL; nephews John Boyd Schoolfield, Jr. of Granbury, TX, James Robert Schoolfield of Waxahachie, TX, Ernest Lynn Schoolfield of Birmingham, AL; five grand-nephews and three grand-nieces and numerous great-grand nieces and nephews.
The Schoolfield family moved from Oklahoma to Pampa, TX in 1929, and to the farm near Ponder, TX in 1942. Following the death of her parents, Catherine became one of six ladies of Pinon House in Krum, TX who were a close community for over 25 years. Catherine loved horses and all things 'cowboy' including Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and the Dallas football team. She loved her guitar and western music. Catherine was proud of her work accomplishments. She never met a stranger and was friendly to many Denton residents. She attended Sunday School for 25 years at the First Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 North Locust St., Denton, TX from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, Feb. 29. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 1 in the chapel at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home. Internment will follow at the family plot in the IOOF Cemetery.
