Carroll Dean Barton, 76, of Denton, died Tuesday February 19, 2008 at his home.

Mr. Barton was born May 16, 1931 in Alton, MO to Albert L. and Jessie (Smith) Barton. He was married to Wanda Muriel Watson on June 20, 1953 in Alton, MO (she died on Aug. 25, 1998). He was married to Sarah Hanley on April 15, 2001 in Denton (she died May 28, 2007). He was a member of Southmont Baptist Church in Denton. He graduated with a degree in civil engineering from Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in Rolla, MO. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad as Chief Engineer and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday February 23, at Southmont Baptist Church, 2801 Pennsylvania Dr., Denton. Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Monday February 25 at Smith Cemetery, Alton, MO. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 1:30 PM at the church before the service on Saturday.

Mr. Barton is survived by his daughter, Patti Simonds and her husband Mike of Coppell; son, Michael Barton and his wife Martha of Coppell; five grandchildren, Matthew Scott Simonds, William Christopher Simonds, Daniel Barton Simonds, Jennifer McKee Barton, Joshua Michael Barton. Two brothers, Howard Earl Barton of Jacksonville, FL, Glen Albert Barton of Peoria, IL; sister, Jo Anne Barton of Blacksburg, VA.
