Carolyn Schertz

December 24, 1947 – March 4, 2018
Carolyn Schertz Mallard was born on December 24, 1947 in Denton, Texas, and she entered Heaven's gate on March 4, 2018, from her home in Denton, Texas.
She was one of four children born to the late Homer W. Schertz and Jessie McFarlin Schertz. Carolyn graduated from Denton High School in 1966 where she was the FFA Sweetheart and a member of the Bronco Band. She attended North Texas State University where she was a Green Jacket. She worked for Nixdorf Computers and North American Mortgage Company until retirement.
She loved art and craft projects and was a master of many skills which led her to scores of hobbies. She had an affection for gourmet cooking, and was a self-taught pianist and guitarist. She seldom met a stranger and was the definition of southern hospitality. Carolyn touched the lives of so many people with her creative spirit, her ability to think outside the box, and optimistic viewpoints of which she maintained until the very end of her earthly journey.
Carolyn will forever be remembered by her son, Jonathan and daughter-in-law, Sjonica of Ponder, TX, as well as her three grandchildren: Madilynn, Morgan, and McClain. She will also be missed by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Sammy and Ernestine Schertz of Rockport, Danny and Sandra Schertz of Denton, and Ricky and Susie Schertz of Sanger. In addition, she will also be missed by her 6 nieces and nephews and 14 great-nieces and great-nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Homer W. Schertz, mother, Jessie V. McFarlin Schertz, and sister-in-law, Dot Schertz.
At Carolyn's request, her body was donated for the advancement of medicine.
A memorial service will be Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Blue Mound United Methodist Church, 8421 Interstate 35, Denton, TX.
