In Loving Memory of Carolyn Daugherty (December 19, 1936 - October 15, 2023)

Carolyn Daugherty, a cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and dedicated public servant, passed away in her home surrounded by family on October 15, 2023, at the age of 87 after a devastating cancer diagnosis.

Born in the heart of Denton, Texas, on December 19, 1936, Carolyn's life was a living testament to enduring love and unwavering faith. She embarked on a 37-year career in public service retiring from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, demonstrating unparalleled dedication and hard work. Carolyn was not just a federal retiree but also a devout Christian whose faith provided solace and unwavering strength throughout the many seasons of her life.

She was a steadfast and loving wife, caring for her husband of 60 years through the challenging journey of Alzheimer's that ended his life a little over a year ago. This selfless act was a testament to her boundless love and enduring commitment. Carolyn found joy in the simple pleasures of life and often spent her free time engaging in spirited games of dominoes with friends and family, forging indelible memories and radiating happiness to all those in her company.

Carolyn leaves a legacy of love and compassion. She is survived by her two adored grandchildren, Kelly Daugherty and Brittany Dahn, and a precious great-grandchild, McKenzie Dahn. They along with her sister, Pamela Whiteman, will forever hold her dear in their hearts. Carolyn's presence will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Carolyn now finds peace in the loving embrace of the Lord, where she joins her two beloved sons, Mark Edward and Thomas Kevin Daugherty, and her devoted husband, Thomas Daugherty, in heaven. They welcome her with open arms, and together, they find eternal serenity.

A viewing to pay respects and celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust St. Denton, Texas. Additionally, a heartwarming celebration of Carolyn's life will take place at Gateway Baptist Church, a fitting tribute on her birthday this coming December.

We find solace in the belief that she has now found eternal peace in the loving embrace of the Lord.
