Carolyn Lou Carter, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2018 at the age of 75. Carolyn was born in Houston, Texas on October 14, 1943 as the youngest child of Albert and Sarah Carter. Carolyn spent her childhood in the Houston area. As an adult, Carolyn returned to the Carter Addition outside Little Elm and began working in the insurance industry in Dallas. After a period of time, she accepted an administrative position at Texas Woman's University then later served as the Administrator for the Faculty Senate at the University of North Texas until her retirement.

Carolyn was a faithful founding member of Living Word Baptist Church in Little Elm. She served many years as church treasurer and actively participated on the building committee during the expansion on the church's current facilities. Carolyn was also a long standing member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Billy and Gerald, her sister, Lanelle, and her two nephews Dennis and Mike. She is survived by her great-nephew Nathan Burnett and her great-niece Brandie Carter. She is also survived by nieces Beverly Carter Bowman, Peggy Carter Freeman, Candice Carter Arthur, and nephews, W. L. Carter, Mark Carter, Charlie Carter, Tim Carter, and Jerald Carter. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves a host of extended family members and caring friends.  Her constant companion for the last several years has been her little dog Cassie. Carolyn will be remembered for her cheerful laugh and fun loving spirit, her dedication to family, and her determination to approach life with continual optimism.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, December 28, 2018 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery  Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust. Denton, TX. with burial to follow in the Little Elm Cemetery, Little Elm, TX.  Family will receive friends on Thursday evening, December 27, from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
