IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carole Dooley
Place
July 7, 1938 – November 29, 2021
Carole Dooley Place was born July 7, 1938 to Opal Berniece Dooley and John Clifford Dooley. She was called home to be with her Lord and Savior November 29, 2021.
Carole was baptized at the age of nine and was a member of Highland Baptist Church for many years. She graduated from Denton High School, and began working for Moore Business Forms as a young woman where she remained a loyal employee at offices in Denton, Dallas, and Lake Forest, IL for over 40 years until her retirement.
She married Frank "Monroe" Pugh on September 1, 1962 and they were married for 20 years. This marriage produced their only child, daughter, Shannon Michele Pugh. Carole later married Robert "Bob" Place on August 30, 1986 and they were married 31 years until his passing.
Carole loved to travel. Shannon and her husband, Steve, took her on many trips through the years and she loved every minute of them. But what she loved the most were the memories made with her family and friends. Carole also loved being a lady who lunched, and would often have lunch on the weekends with her nieces or friends, and every weekday with Shannon. She joked that she gave Shannon the weekends off to spend with Steve. She loved Steve as her own son and enjoyed the witty banter they shared. Carole did not have grandchildren; however she did have grandhorses and granddogs , whom she also loved spending time with. Carole was also a Dallas Stars fan and loved going to games with Shannon who had season tickets on the glass for many seasons. Shannon's friends, from childhood to present, referred to Carole as Mom. She treated them as her own. She was a wonderful Mom, Auntie and friend and will be missed by many.
Carole was preceded in death by her husband Bob Place, her parents, John C. & Opal Dooley, and her sister, Jodie Davis. She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Byrne and husband Steve of Corinth, Nieces Allison Davis of Denton, Holly Starr and husband Andy of Poteau, OK, Nephew John Davis and wife Pam of Iredell, Nieces Brandi Liles of Denton, Heather Boss and husband Jeremy of Poteau, OK, Caitlin Starr of Florida and nephews Zay, Braxton, Bodey, Liam & Noah.
