Captain Jackie "Jack" W. Stanley, USMC Retired 81 of Clarendon, TX formerly of Denton, passed away on May 15, 2015 at his home. He was born October 12, 1933 in Lueders, Texas to Grover and Winnie (Johnson) Stanley. He attended Argyle and Denton public schools, North Texas State University, Officers Training school USMC and Foreign Language school USMC. He is retired from the United States Marine Corp, receiving both a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He served in both Korea and Viet Nam He was married to Wanda Thurman on May 15, 1956 in Decatur, Texas, and he was a member of the Baptist Church, Military Officers of America and the Marine Corps Association.
Capt. Stanley is survived by his wife, Wanda Stanley of Clarendon, TX Daughter Angela D. Leathers and husband Richard of Bonham, TX son David L. Stanley and wife Sondra of Aubrey, TX sisters, Paula Babineaux and husband Willie of Ft. Worth, TX Carol McCready of Ft. Worth, TX Fern Scott of Evergreen, CO and Linda Scott of Westminister, CO grandchildren, Paul Stanley, Amber Price, Samantha Neal, Timothy Leathers, Sandy Portier, and Sadie Sires, seventeen great grandchildren also by sister in law Joy Chumley, and brother in law Ben Thurman, numerous Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Grover and Winnie Stanley, brothers, Cloris and Grover, Jr. and sisters, Nina, Reba, and Colene and grandson Steve Stanley.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, TX followed by a funeral service on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Denton Baptist Temple with Rev, George Anderson and Bro. Richard Leathers, officiating. Full Military honors will be held at the Bourland Cemetery in Keller, TX
