Byron "Jake" Weldon Jacobs
On October 5th, Byron passed into the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ after a short illness. He was born on September 22nd, 1948 in New York to George and Hope Jacobs whom preceded him in death.
Byron had a career of service spanning 24 years as a combat engineer in the U.S. Air Force. He was both a veteran of Vietnam and the first Gulf War and traveled the world extensively during this entire time. After retiring, he worked as a heavy equipment operator at the Orlando Airport in Florida and then became a substitute teacher in our local community. Byron was a man who enjoyed helping many people, liked to have a good laugh and tell many fantastic stories about his travels. His favorite pastimes included working on cars, construction projects, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a dedicated husband, family man and a great friend to many whom will greatly miss him.
Byron is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Jacobs, his sister, Christina Collins, his children, Elizabeth Jacobs (Juan), Chris Jacobs (Kairit), and step-son Jeremy Graham, and 6 grandchildren, Dominic, Hannia, Clara, Ellis, Stephen and Jessica.
