IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Byrl "Butch"
Edward Armel
August 4, 1952 – May 26, 2023
On May 26, 2023, Byrl (Butch) Edward Armel went home to be with the Lord, his wife, and his father. Butch was born on August 4, 1952, to Byrl and Betty Armel in Butler, MO. Butch had two sisters, Etta and Page, and although he was the youngest of the children, he looked after and was protective of his two sisters.
The family moved to Texas a few years later and bought a farm in Woodbine. Butch attended Calisburg ISD and graduated from high school in 1970. He played football and was part of the FFA. After school, Butch and his father moved to Alaska where they helped build the Trans Alaskan Pipeline. After that, they moved back to Texas and ran a grocery store and gas station in Denton.
Butch later met the love of his life, Connie Guillaume, on a blind date on Valentine's Day. Seven months later, they took their vows in Krum and resided in Gainesville surrounded by family. Two years later, they had their first child, a baby girl named Cheyenne. In 1985, they welcomed their son Ben to the world and their family was complete. Later that year they moved to Krum, Texas, where they raised their two children and made a wonderful life for themselves and their family. In 2011, his grandson Alexander was born and Butch loved him with all of his heart. Since day one, Butch was so proud of Alexander and the two were inseparable.
Butch was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was full of energy, stubborn, and you never met a person that didn't like him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved making people laugh. He loved hunting, fishing, listening to music and playing his guitar, being a beekeeper, gardening, and doing other work around his property. He was also a phenomenal welder and always said that he could weld anything, even a broken heart.
Butch is survived by his daughter Cheyenne, son-in-law Danny Defee, and grandson Alexander of Krum, TX; son Benjamin Armel and son-in-law Christopher Sayasith of London, England; mother Betty Armel, sister Etta and brother-in-law Bill Morris, sister Page and brother-in-law Gary Sampley, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Byrl Armel and his wife and soulmate, Connie Armel.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 2nd at 9:00 am at 2663 Hillview Drive, Krum, TX.
