Burton Allan Almond, 64, quietly passed through the veil on Sunday, May 8th in Denton, Texas surrounded by his loving wife, family and friends. He was born on July 12th, 1951, in Downey, Idaho to Allan Lamar and Angelyn Stout, the eldest son of an eldest son and daughter, and the pride and joy of their lives. Burt was married to his wife and eternal companion of 27 years, Amy Regina "Jeanie" Robertson of Denton, Texas at the time of his passing. He is preceded in death by his parents Allan and Angelyn and his brothers David and Kelly, and grandson Devin Lee who, along with countless relatives who have gone before, are welcoming him on the other side of the veil.
Burt was the proud father to a large blended family consisting of his two sons and daughter of his first marriage to Janet Moore along with Jeanie's four children. They are Donovan (Denise), Daniel (Stacey), and Adrienne (David) along with Scott (Wendy), Shellee (Scott), Chelsea (Clint) and Christi (Troy) and including 24 grandchildren. The 7 children and especially the grandchildren were the loves of his life. Known as "Papa" he was a fixture at most of their family, church, and sports activities, both to their pride and sometimes embarrassment. His "outside voice" and strong opinions that his grandchildren could do no wrong may have caused his ejection at more than one sports activity. But this devotion to family only created stronger bonds and a love for "Papa" Burt. In addition he is survived by his brother and three sisters, Grant (Debbie), JaLynne (Gary), Deanna (Dave), and Loralee (Robert).
His life will be celebrated on Friday, May 13th, with a viewing and funeral service to be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 4501 Teasley Lane, Denton, TX 76210. The viewing will be held from 10:00 – 11:30 am with funeral service at 12:00 noon. Interment and dedication of the grave site will be immediately following at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Denton, Texas, 76205. All arrangements are under the direction of Mulkey Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, TX 76201. A luncheon for the family will be provided by the Relief Society at the church following interment.
