Bobby Will Brown, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and so much more, passed away in his home in Denton Texas on Sat. Feb. 14, 2015, reunited with the love of his life on Valentine 's Day. Bobby was born on September 25, 1929 in Haynesville LA to Dorothy Harp Brown and Carl W. Brown. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1948. His academic and athletic pursuits continued at Rice University for one year before moving on to star at Sam Houston State University as captain, quarterback and middle linebacker of the football team and met the twirler of his dreams, Jo Ann Hamilton. Bobby graduated in 1952 and earned his master degree the following year. Jo Ann and Bobby were married on September 5, 1952 and enjoyed 55 wonderful years together. He was preceded in death by his loving wife in 2008, parents, brother Arlin Brown and sister Dorothy Faye Copeland. He is survived by his sons Bobby V Brown (Laurie Niemann), Jeff Brown, daughter Gay Brown Darling, son in law Mike Darling, three grandkids Kayleigh, Trent and Lyndee Darling, his "baby" sister Bitsy Brown and a multitude of family and friends. Bobby's career began in the El Campo and Sweeny schools, as a coach and teacher. He went on to work for Lone Star Industries then to Stewart & Stevenson in 1975, where he retired as Vice President of Human Resources in 1996. Bobby was highly involved in the Sweeny Junior Chamber of Commerce, serving as local President, state Vice President, State Director and National Director. He also served on several hospital and association boards. Though his dedication to work and service to the community were extraordinary, his greatest devotion and delight was in his grandchildren. "Poppy" had a gleaming sparkle in his blue eyes and a proud smile on his face at any mention of his grandkids. He and Grammy traveled to countless events over the years, always encouraging and cheering on their "man" and both "little dolls." He was the most loving, generous, unselfish, strongest man we have ever known. Everyone who knew him benefited greatly from his knowledge and his honest steadfast approach to life. An ancient Chinese proverb states "One generation plants the trees, another gets the shade." Bobby will always be our mighty oak whose large protective branches encircled us with love for 85 years. He will live in our hearts forever and we shall miss him dearly all the days of our lives. Visitation is at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Denton on Tues. Feb.17 from 7-8pm.
