Obituary

Robert Norman Reidler, 66, of Copper Canyon, Texas, died April 21, 2008 after a year-long battle with cancer that he fought with a courageous spirit.  He was born March 29, 1942 in Lonaconing, Maryland.

Mr. Reidler earned a Masters of Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Maryland in 1967.  He started his career at the U.S. Department of Defense where he met his wife, Linda Lorraine Lilley.  Later they moved to Boulder, Colorado where Mr. Reidler worked for Ball Brothers Research and helped design and build experiment projects for Skylab Space exploration.  Mr. Reidler formed a custom computer programming company which he operated for 11 years.   The Reidlers moved to Copper Canyon, Texas in 1982 where Mr. Reidler continued his career and became active in business, community and church organizations.

Mr. Reidler's travels took him to most of the national parks, 49 states, as far north in Canada as Jasper and Churchill, and from coast to coast.  Mr. Reidler traveled to Alaska and the Arctic tundra to see polar bears.  He always loved traveling and seeing wildlife, especially grizzly bears and wolves in Canada and the Smokey Mountains in the U.S.

Mr. Reidler was preceded in death by his parents, Williams and Mary Reidler.  He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda; daughter Lauren Stange and husband Russ of Coppell, Texas; Son Bill Reidler and wife Paula of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Trevor Stange and Regan Stange of Coppell, Texas; sister Shirley Carson of Cumberland, Maryland; extended family, numerous friends, and his beloved dog, Aspen.

A memorial service for Mr. Reidler will be held at Crossroads Bible Church at 5:30 P.M. on April 26, 2008.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donation to Crossroads Bible Church, 8101 East FM 407, Double Oak, Texas  75077, or to the American Cancer Society, Lewisville Unit, 8900 Carpenter Frwy., Dallas, Texas 75247.
