Billy Joe Pitchford, 74, of Denton, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at The Atrium Medical Center in Corinth, TX.
Mr. Pitchford was born on March 21, 1938 in Wickes, AR to Alex and Ruby Pitchford. He was a scale technician and a carpet layer. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was married to Lavona Charlene Carthel on April 18, 1975 in Lockney, TX.
Mr. Pitchford is survived by his wife, Lavona Pitchford of Denton; 4 daughters, 3 son-in-laws, and 6 grandchildren. Brandy Scott and husband David, their children Caitlyn, Lexi, and Becca of Krum, TX, Teresa Pitchford and her children Hope, and Skyler of Denton, Margaret Adams and husband Bucky, their daughter Taylor and fiancee Jace of Petersburg, TX, Becky Myers and husband Mike of Lockney, TX. He is also survived by 5 siblings, Mary Murphy, Dora Raines, Lorene Pittman, Pat Nall, John Pitchford, and many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and 2 brothers. He was a loving husband, Daddy, and Papa.
A visitation will be held from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, TX. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, July 26, 2012 in the chapel of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home, 611 Janssen, Mena, AR 71953. Interment will follow at Crystal Hill Cemetery, Wickes, AR.
